Carter has written for Historical Reflections-Réflexions Historiques, The Journal of Modern History, and the World Encyclopedia of Protest and Revolution (Wiley Publishing). He has previously taught at Purdue University, Berry College, and the Ohio State University at Lima. He is currently completing a manuscript entitled: Jazz Among Interwar Gauls: Dancing French Identity in the Modern Period.
