Jamie Kreiner researches and teaches the history of Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Her new book, The Social Life of Hagiography in the Merovingian Kingdom, is a history of how the post-Roman society of Gaul transformed its sense of identity and justice in response to Christian ideas about social responsibility, and how one body of literature was instrumental in bringing those changes about. Her next project will be a social and semiotic history of the pig: how it was raised, managed, consumed, and represented throughout the Middle Ages.
