I'm currently writing my dissertation. In my dissertation, I examine the life history of Oyabe Zenichiro, who encountered various social and intellectual discourses both in the U.S. and Japan at the turn of the 20th century. My focus is on the creation of his Japanese ethnic identity within the international context.
