Miller Learning Center · 48 Baxter Street, Athens, GA 30602 2025-26 graduating History majors are invited to the annual History Department Graduation Reception May 8, 2026. The reception will include our annual awards and graduation recognition, with a gift for each graduating senior in attendance. AN RSVP invitation will be emailed to all 2025-26 graduates in March 2026. We would like to take a group photo of our prospective graduates following the awards. Students are encourage to wear their caps and gowns! In addition, we would like to feature photos of our prospective graduate attendees in our graduation slides. To submit your photo for the event, please send in the photo with your RSVP form, or if you already submitted the form, email a good resolution jpeg image to history@uga.edu. The RSVP form is required for students to attend this event. If you have a FERPA restriction, it must be removed in order to appear in the program. FAQ's: Is there a dress code? No, but most students dress nicely as many will also be attending the larger UGA Commencement later in the day. Most graduating students wear the traditional cap and gown. Is this Commencement? Check the UGA website commencement.uga.edu for information on the formal graduation ceremony. We will call the names of our graduating seniors at our awards ceremony, and have them walk to the podium to receive a small gift from the department in recognition of graduation. When do I get my diploma? Diplomas are sent to all UGA graduates 6-8 weeks after Commencement - for more information go to commencement.uga,edu. We will have prizes for the best decorated history graduation cap, so get creative! Parking for Commencement - Parking for commencement is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Suggested parking areas include, Hull Deck (W05), South Campus Deck (S11), East Campus Deck (E04), and Performing Arts Center Deck (E20).
