The AB/MA in History

The Department of History offers a combined AB/MA degree in History. Previously an honors-only program, now any UGA student has the option to apply to our MA program to obtain a master's degree simultaneously to their bachelor's degree. Students who start the application process in their first or second year at UGA are able to finish both degrees in just five years. It's an opportunity for some of our best undergrads to undertake the challenge and excitement of graduate coursework while having those courses count toward a second degree, at the cost of a bachelor's degree alone. Students may 'double count' up to 12 hours of graduate credit to satisfy the same number if undergradaute credits for the A.B. in history.

Students who are interested may contact the history department or stop by Rm. 211 LeConte Hall and speak first with Laurie Kane, our Student Affairs Professional and AB/MA advisor, then the Director of Graduate Studies.
