Sean Vanatta, a "triple dawg" and visiting assistant professor of history in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University, will present on the Volcker Shock and the end of financial stability. The Volker Shock, a policy experiment undertaken in October 1979, was the most important financial event between the Great Depression and Great Recession. Vanatta will discuss how this change in the way the Federal Reserve managed the nation’s money supply dramatically transformed the U.S. financial system. He will explore the unheralded consequences including the inauguration of our present era of Bailout Capitalism, and the 2008 financial crisis. Pizza will be provided.
