2023 Annual Reception for Graduating Seniors in History

Graduating History majors (Fall 2022, Spring 2023, and Summer 2023) are invited to the annual History Department Graduation Reception the afternoon of May 12 (Commencement day). Our guest list is now full. Award recipients and graduating seniors may still RSVP, but due to fire codes we can not accommodate late RSVPs for additional guests.

Friday, May 12, 2023 – 12:00-1:30 PM, Refreshments.

The reception will include our annual awards and graduation recognition, with a gift for each graduating senior in attendance.

  • post graduation plans if you are willing to share (be as specific as possible, if you are going to grad school, please let us know the school name, and program (MA, MHP, PhD law school etc).


Not a senior? We are looking for a few history major volunteers to help set up and /or take down after the event. Please contact if you would like to help.

  • Please note: this is a reception and not a commencement ceremony.The 2023 UGA Spring Commencement exercises will be held later in the day on Friday, May 12, 2023. For graduation ceremony information - please see the commencement web site
  • The Graduation Application is available in Athena for students expecting to graduate in spring 2023 and summer 2023.
  • As a reminder, students must apply to graduate for the semester in which they will take their last course(s) toward their graduation requirements. Detailed instructions on how to apply are available.

  • Please see the Registrar’s Office site for complete information regarding diplomas. Diplomas are mailed six to eight weeks following the conclusion of each semester.
