Dr. Ellen Chapman Cultural Heritage Partners Mon, 03/22/2021 - 12:45pm Virtual Dr. Ellen Chapman is an archaeologist whose work focuses on improving cultural heritage preservation at the intersection of public policy, cultural resource management, and academic archaeology. A Cultural Resources Specialist at the law firm Cultural Heritage Partners, Ellen provides clients with guidance on government affairs, cultural resources, and historic preservation issues. Sign up/ Zoom details TBA. ----------------------------------------------------------- With a background in public archaeology and archaeological human remains, she is particularly interested in how projects engage communities, preserve our shared heritage, and respect the dignity of human burial sites. She commonly works with clients like Native American tribes and Canadian First Nations, anthropological professional organizations, historic preservation non-profits, and project developers navigating federal regulations such as the National Historic Preservation Act. Ellen received her PhD in Anthropology from the College of William and Mary in 2018, and her dissertation is titled "Buried Beneath the River City: Investigating an Archaeological Landscape and its Community Value in Richmond, Virginia." She developed experience working in cultural resource management in Missouri, California, the United Kingdom, and Virginia during and between her undergraduate and graduate degrees.
