Presented by Dr. Candice Lyons (University of California, Santa Barbara ). This project focuses on

two key concerns: one, how enslaved (and formerly enslaved) women conceived of and performed their

own genders and two, how enslaved and formerly enslaved women structured their relationships to other

women.
