Monday, August 25 2025, 4 - 6pm 101 LeConte Hall Join us for a special showing of the Athens Film Project, a production of the Athens Historical Society. This screening is sponsored by the history department and The B. Phinizy Spalding Chair in History. The Athens Film Project creates short films on Athens history for use in area schools with funds generously donated by local supporters. Working with local teachers, student consultants, and hired graduate students in history, project participants research the topics, write the scripts, and then work with local filmmakers who make the films. The films are available on the Athens Historical Society’s YouTube channel. The Athens History Project presents three very short films: Emancipation The Founding of Athens and the Struggle over the Oconee River Industrial Athens: Ending Child Labor Followed by a panel discussion featuring UGA students, faculty, and alumni.
