Image: Sherri Sheu, an environmental historian and doctoral student at the University of Colorado-Boulder, is the recipient of a 2017 Smithsonian Predoctoral Fellowship. Sheu graduated with a bachelor's degree in history at the University of Georgia, where she was active in Phi Alpha Theta, Inc. and instrumental in the creation of a studnet conference while she was an undergraduate. After graduating from UGA and spending some time traveling she decided to pursue graduate studies with a former UGA professor now at Boulder - Paul Sutter. Smithsonian Institution Fellows conduct independent study and research related to SI collections, experts, or facilities in cooperation with at least one Smithsonian advisor. The Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program is administered through the Smithsonian Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI).
