Sherri Sheu, an environmental historian and doctoral student at the University of Colorado-Boulder, is the recipient of a 2017 Smithsonian Predoctoral Fellowship. After graduating from UGA and spending some time traveling she decided to pursue graduate studies with a former UGA professor now at Boulder - Paul Sutter.

Smithsonian Institution Fellows conduct independent study and research related to SI collections, experts, or facilities in cooperation with at least one Smithsonian advisor.

The Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program is administered through the Smithsonian Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI).
