Ph.D. Candidate Margaret Neel is a Ph.D. candidate in UGA’s history department. She studies public history and midcentury popular culture in the American West. She combines historical research with spatial studies and performance studies. In Spring 2021, she was also awarded a certificate in Historic Preservation from the UGA College of Environment and Design. Before attending UGA, she worked for the National Park Service's Northeast Region Archeology office. She continues to work in Public History at the University of Georgia. In the summer of 2020, she curated the “Georgia on my Mind” exhibit for the University of Georgia's Hargrett Library Special Collection. The exhibit broke attendance records in its Fall 2022 run.
