Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, conference room, 1260 S. Lumpkin St.
Presented by the Willson Center for the Humanities and Arts -

The purpose of this session is to workshop grant proposals you plan to submit in 2025 or 2026. Examples include the ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellowship (deadline 29 Oct 25), Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship (1 Nov 25), and residential fellowships at institutions like the Newberry Library, Huntington Library, Folger Shakespeare Library, and John Carter Brown Libraries. We will be joined by Professor Jennifer Palmer from the History Department and Winnie Smith, Associate Director of the Willson Center.

Workshop agenda: Each participant will receive constructive feedback and provide suggestions to other participants. We’ll discuss strategies for success and help you strengthen your application before submission. (For best results, you should plan for copyediting and submitting the final proposal, in consultation with your dissertation advisor, committee members, or department colleagues who know your project.)

Open to: Any graduate student in the humanities and arts who is preparing to submit a grant proposal and is committed to both giving and receiving constructive feedback.

To participate, please RSVP by September 23 (wrighte@uga.edu) with:
  • A draft of your proposal (any stage of completion)
  • A 25-word abstract
  • A Word document with key information about your target grant, including a link to the agency's website
  •
Space will be limited to nine participants to ensure quality feedback for everyone. This collaborative workshop builds transferable, internationally applicable skills whose value transcends one grant proposal.
We hope you will join us for this collaborative workshop. Contact Elizabeth Wright (wrighte@uga.edu) with questions.
