History at Work: featuring an alumni panel of history in industry

The History Department is thrilled to welcome three accomplished Department of History alumni to campus for the annual HISTORY@WORK Alumni Speaker Series.  Pizza will be served.  All students are welcome.
 
This event is sponsored by the Parents Leadership Council and the Willson Center.
 
The three alumni visitors include:
Joshua Couch (1997 History Graduate) – Joshua Couch is the Senior Director of Software Engineering for Disney Streaming. Some of his prior roles include serving as the Director of Software Development at Hulu, building and leading the engineering team for the Digital Division of Fender Musical Instruments Cooptation, and several positions at Myspace.  Joshua currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Lauren M. Marshall (2013 History Graduate) - Lauren M. Marshall leads NewTown Loans, LLC, a U.S. Treasury–certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). In this role, she oversees a $21 million loan fund, manages financial products for small businesses, residential investment, and commercial development, along with training and technical assistance that equip local entrepreneurs and developers with the tools and resources to succeed. With more than a decade of experience in historic real estate development, Lauren has supported real estate development projects in Macon, including prior work with Historic Macon Foundation and the Beall’s Hill neighborhood revitalization initiative. A certified Historic Real Estate Finance Professional through Grow America, she brings deep expertise in leveraging federal and state historic tax credits, financing commercial projects, and rehabilitating historic properties. She serves on the Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Design Review Board and the Macon-Bibb County Affordable Housing Fund. Lauren earned her Master’s in Conservation Studies from the University of York in England and earned a BA in History and ABJ in Advertising from the University of Georgia.
 
Tim Williamson (2001 History Graduate) - After 15 years of working on M&A and M&A integrations, Tim Williamson launched Acquire2Win, and company that helps organizations navigate post-merger integrations.  He has also served as the Senior Director of Sales Strategy and Planning at Comcast's FreeWheel and has held several leadership roles with Nielsen. Tim and Acquire2Win are located in Atlanta, Georgia.

The History at Work Speaker Series invites former history majors, minors, and advocates to discuss how they have transformed historical thinking into post-college careers, and to show current majors how to think about the strengths and possibilities of their own training.
