Announcing the Washington Summer Program in Public History

This summer the Department of History launches its Summer Program in Public History in Washington, DC. Students will earn credit for their degree from coursework and internship participation. During Maymester, students will take HIST 4027: American Museums, Parks, and Monuments as an introduction to the field of Public History. In the summer thru semester, students will intern with major cultural institutions in the area. This is a great way to learn about employment opportunities in public history and gain valuable experience in the field. Interested students should contact Dr. Akela Reason .

As a complement to this new summer option, the Department is also introducing a new scholarship for a history major enrolled in the Summer Program in Public History, which is intended to cover the additional costs associated with the Program for a student with documented financial need. History majors participating in this Washington program may also apply for the Department's Study Abroad scholarships .
