Capitalism and Economics

The history department at the University of Georgia is on the cutting edge of the exciting new (and old) field of the history of capitalism. Recognized by the New York Times in April 2013 for innovative approaches to the field, the department's award-winning faculty and graduate students have been at the forefront of this new, exciting field of historical inquiry.

Asia

The University of Georgia History Department offers undergraduate courses in ancient, medieval, early-modern, and modern Asian history. 

African American

The University of Georgia History Department offers an excellent opportunity to study and research African American history at the M.A. and Ph.D. levels with outstanding, prize-winning historians. The faculty's expertise and research interests span the entire breadth of African American history from slavery in the colonial period to the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Courses on African American history are taught every semester. Financial assistance is available.
