The Graduate School Welcome Fair for incoming graduate students (Summer and Fall, 2025) will be held on August 11, 2025 at the The Classic Center in downtown Athens from 1:00-4:00pm.

Located in downtown Athens, Ga, The Classic Center is an award-winning convention center and 2,100-seat performing arts theatre.

It’s been a year to celebrate for the Georgia Bulldogs. Our students have achieved great success this year – on and off the field—and we are proud to celebrate their achievements. The following is a list of our Annual History Undergraduate Student Awards presented at our recent award and graduation reception on May 12, at the Zell Miller Learning Center.

This month, the History department recognizes  our Spring 2023 Graduate Colloquium in Public History students for our DEI Spotlight feature.

Please join us for a history talk by Dr. Christina Snyder, "Building UGA: Convict Labor at Sanford Stadium and Beyond". Snyder is the McCabe Greer Professor of the American Civil War Era at The Pennsylvania State University and a UGA alum (AB 2001). She is an historian of colonialism, race, and slavery, with a focus on North America from the pre-contact era through the late nineteenth century.

Free and open to the public. Pizza will be served. This is an FYO event.

Congratulations to the many graduate students who received annual awards at our recognition ceremony in April at the UGA Founders Memorial Garden. Graduating students were also recognized, including: Master's students Sachen Pillay and Christine Combs, and Ph.D. candidate Matthew O'Neal, graduating May 11.

Andrew Denson (History, Western Carolina University), author of Monuments to Absence: Cherokee Removal and the Contest Over Southern Memory will be at UGA to share his research on Thursday, April 20 at 2:30 pm in 265 Park Hall. Come hear Dr. Denson's rich research on memorialization.
