      The focus of the History Fellows Summer Workshop was to create broad new inroads for students from Georgia and beyond who are underrepresented on campus, which may include groups such as women in STEM, older returning students, military veterans, first-generation college students and others.

UGA Public History intern Ian Robbins was an Education Intern at Ford’s Theatre during summer 2018. His article, "Changing Perceptions: Teaching Lincoln and Recontructruction" was recently published on the Ford's Theatre blog.

The American Founding Group and the School of Public and International Affairs will host a celebration of Constitution Day. The centerpiece of these festivities is a lecture by Carol Berkin, Presidential Professor of History Emerita at Baruch College & the Graduate Center, City University of New York. The lecture and moderated question and answer session will be followed by a dessert reception in Candler Hall. In addition, historical documents and materials related to the American founding and U.S.

For the first Student Speaker Series Event of the semester Marvin Chiles will share a dissertation chapter: "'Crime City:' Black Richmond and the Making of a 'Tough on Crime' Virginia", for graduate students to read and provide feedback on at the meeting on Friday September 21st. Interested graduate students should contact this year's Student Speaker Series Coordinator, Lauren Titley, at let94308@uga.edu for a copy of the reading prior to the 21st. The location will be updated closer to the event date.

Reading days have been designated by the University Council to provide time for students to prepare for final exams. No mandatory assignments are to be scheduled for completion during reading days -- either for course work or for co-curricular activities. Exceptions for good cause can be made to this policy by the Office of the Vice President for Instruction. Nothing in this policy limits an instructor from scheduling optional study reviews for students during reading days.
