Phi Alpha Theta, History honor society: Dinner lecture event tickets available

Phi Alpha has some tickets still available for the upcoming dinner lecture, "Lincoln and The Todds: First Family of the American Civil War", given by UGA's very own, Dr. Stephen Berry on February 25th. This event is hosted at the historic Cobb House, downtown Athens and begins at 6pm. Cost per person is $20 and tickets will be sold on the main floor of LeConte on February 10, 11, 16, and 17 from 10-2:30. We have a limited number of seats, so be sure to reserve your spot early, as we will be selling tickets through these advance sales only.

Doctoral student James Owen highlighted on UGA Graduate School site for his research

James Owen, a doctoral student in history, was recently interviewed for a Graduate School 'Spotlight'. The web article notes that "under the direction of his advisor, Dr. Claudio Saunt, Owen’s multidisciplinary research includes narratives on the U.S., Caribbean, and Native American histories as well as in ethnomusicology, led by Dr.

History at Work: Federal Careers

The History at Work Speaker Series explores the many ways of putting a history degree to use after college. This one is dedicated to the variety of careers in federal government — how to find them, how to apply for them, how to see your degree as an asset for them — featuring Kate Templeton, a Certified Federal Career Coach at UGA. Open to students of all majors. Free pizza.

Summer Program in Public History: Information Session

This summer, the Department of History is launching its new Summer Program in Public History, based in Washington, DC. Running from Maymester through the Thru Semester, the program introduces students to the ways that history interacts with the world and provides them with the experience of working in the field before they graduate — by interning at major cultural institutions.  

The program is open to students of all majors.

HGSA Book Sale

The History Graduate Student Association is sponsoring thier spring book sale Wednesday, March 16th and Thursday, March 17th from 9am-4pm. All hardcover books are $2, all paperback books are $1.  Cash only please!
