Williamson Eminent Professor of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and senior associate director of UNC's Center for the Study of the American South. Ferris will address the Do Good Fund, southern photography, images of the American South and the region in this lecture. Presented in conjunction with the Do Good Fund Exhibitions. Screening for Georgia Workshop on Culture, Power and History There will be a documentary screening of the film Raising Resistance, a movie about the effects of GM crops on agribusiness and local farmers in Paraguay. This screening is part of the Georgia workshop on culture, power and history, an initiative featuring films and speakers on the Latin American Sustainable Agriculture. Workshop: It’s Not Your Father’s Library Carla W. Buss, the curriculum materials and education librarian, will talk about the overview of libraries’ resources and research techniques. Buss earned her B.A. from Youngstown State University in political science and her M.L.S from Kent State University. She provides instruction in the use of the libraries for class assignments in education and history, as well as individual research conferences. Hosted by the IDEA Society. A Film of the French Revolution: Danton Danton portrays the last months of Georges Danton, one of the leaders of the French Revolution. It is an adaptation of the Polish play "The Danton Case" by Stanisława Przybyszewska. The film stars Gérard Depardieu in the title role. With a short introduction by Kate Marsden. World History We offer undergraduate and graduate courses in World History, focusing on global connections, cultural exchanges, and large-scale transformations. Faculty have special expertise in premodern Eurasian history, and their research interests include gender, disease, and transcultural comparisons. POSTPONED: Stories of Oconee Hill Cemetery This event has been postponed due to weather, and will be rescheduled at a later date. Phi Alpha Theta is co-sponsoring a walking tour of Oconee Hill Cemetery on Monday with Dr. Stephen Berry. Come and hear the stories of those buried in this antebellum period cemetery. Berry is the Gregory Professor of the Civil War Era, Co-Director of the Center for Virtual History, and Secretary-Treasurer of the Southern Historical Society.
