John C. Inscoe Professorship in Southern History On behalf of UGA's History Department, I am pleased to report that our campaign to establish the John C. Inscoe Professorship in Southern History is now well underway. This new position honors John’s storied career at the University of Georgia, one that spanned nearly 35 years. Now retired, he leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having taught thousands of students, published dozens of articles, and edited and authored fifteen books on Southern history, with a special focus on the history of Appalachia.
