TA/RA Orientation for New Graduate Students (Required)

This interdisciplinary orientation provides general preparation for graduate students with instructional responsibilities, including an overview of policies and procedures pertinent to the TA role, an introduction to effective teaching strategies and practices, and exposure to services and resources available across campus that offer support for individuals engaged in teaching and learning endeavors at UGA.

The CTL typically holds TA Orientation prior to the start of the Fall and Spring semesters.

History Major Earns Top Prize for Creative Responses to Libraries Undergraduate Research Awards

Congratulations to Zachary Stiles, who has earned the top prize in the University of Georgia Libraries Undergraduate Research Awards! Zachary created an online course module that can teach other students about how to understand historical methodology, dive into the archives for resources, and build an exemplary essay.

Bill Kelson

Congratulations to Bill Kelson (PHD '24), recipient of the Ron and Yvette Walcott Excellence in Fine Arts and Humanities Doctoral Research Award.  Bill Kelson is a Postdoctoral Junior Fellow at the Society of Fellows in the Humanities at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where he is a Visiting Assistant Professor. He is currently working to turn his Ph.D. dissertation, a wide-ranging history of the Chinese financial crisis of the 1880s, into a book manuscript.

Spotlight on Inclusive Excellence, The Athens Film Project

We are putting the spotlight on Professor Cindy Hahamovitch and a number of graduate students (Bryant Barnes, Cole Wicker, Ariana Persico) in history who have been involved in the Athens Historical Society's Athens Film Project. The four short films bring to life the stories of Athens’ industrial roots, its fight for emancipation, and the early struggles of Indigenous people and Black students in our community.
